Love Joni Mitchell.I do believe without religion the same evil would be around.Instead of wars for god there would be wars of liberation,or whatever damm excuse needed to get things started. There would have been greedy petty people.Religion is a very human endeavour so why would anything be different without it.Yes it would be one less shield for whatever human failing you want to look at,but I think we humans can create many kind of shields.I do think some religions were good for the spread of literacy so these debates can occur.I do understand religion can cause great harm to people. It is just not unique to religion.Partly I stopped going to church because of some mean spirited behavior over a teacher.I also liked to sleep in sunday morning. Some in the family went to church for a while, some didn’t ,some still do.It just never divided anyone to the extent some people seem to experience

Ahhh, Joni. Love that song. And the slow version speaks to me much more than the fast one, when she was young and idealistic (even though I’m fairly young and fairly idealistic, lol)
